چکیده

The gas dynamics of interactions of a tenuous ionosphere with movihg satellites and probes that have bearings on the diagnostics of the ionosphere are discussed. Emphasis is on the cases where the body is moving at mesothermal speeds, namely intermediate between the thermal speeds of ions and electrons of the ambient ionosphere. Methods of collision-free plasma kinetics with self-consistent field are used. The development of the topics for discussion starts with stationary Langmuir probe which entails the basic mechanism of body-plasma interaction that becomes furt her intricated as the body moves at a higher and higher speed. Applications of the theory of plasma interaction to meteors which move in the ionosphere are also presented.

Investigation of the effects of geomagnetic storms on ionospheric irregularities using the combination of ground-based GNSS and SWARM satellites

Geomagnetic storms are one of the main causes of ionospheric perturbations in different sizes, depending on their intensity, which could disturb radio signals passing through this medium. On September 6-12, 2017, the sudden storm commencement (SSC) was the most massive geomagnetic storm of the year due to the X9 solar flare caused by a coronal mass ejection (CME). IMF-Bz and Dst values increase...

Iranian Permanent GPS Network Receivers Differential Code Biases Estimation Using Global Ionospheric Maps

Measurements of the dual frequency Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers can be used to calculate the electron density and the total electron content (TEC) of the ionosphere layer of the Earth atmosphere. TEC is a key parameter for investigating the ongoing spatial and temporal physical process of the ionosphere. For accurate estimation of TEC from GPS measurements, GPS satellites and GPS r...

Two-step method for the determination of the differential code biases of COMPASS satellites

The differential code bias (DCB) in satellites of the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) should be precisely corrected when designing certain applications, such as ionospheric remote sensing, precise point positioning, and time transfer. In the case of COMPASS system, the data used for estimating DCB are currently only available from a very limited number of global monitoring stations. ...

Robust Multi-Carrier, Multi-Satellite Vector Phase Locked Loop with Wideband Ionospheric Correction and Integrated Weighted RAIM.dvi

Current GNSS receivers have independent Phase Locked Loops (PLLs) for each satellite and frequency. The introduction of new GPS signals on L5 and the development of new satellite constellations (Galileo, Compass) increases the number of PLLs and, thus, the probability of a loss of lock of one PLL. This probability becomes especially critical during ionospheric scintillations with frequent deep ...

Climatology of GPS phase scintillation and HF radar backscatter for the high-latitude ionosphere under solar minimum conditions

Maps of GPS phase scintillation at high latitudes have been constructed after the first two years of operation of the Canadian High Arctic Ionospheric Network (CHAIN) during the 2008–2009 solar minimum. CHAIN consists of ten dual-frequency receivers, configured to measure amplitude and phase scintillation from L1 GPS signals and ionospheric total electron content (TEC) from L1 and L2 GPS signal...
